Island School Parent Teacher Association

Island School is lucky to be supported by an enthusiastic and involved Parent Teacher Association. The committee meets on a monthly basis and is attended by parent members, the Principal, teacher representatives, its honorary accountant as well as student representatives. ISPTA organizes various events, the most important being the annual Fair, throughout the year which help raise additional funds for new equipment, upgrading of school facilities, supporting extra-curricular events proposed and organized by senior students, as well as charitable funds for students, selected from other schools in Hong Kong, in desperate financial circumstances. Coffee mornings for each of the Years are held at The Helena May Centre and see growing attendance by parents. They are invaluable occasions when the Principal and key staff present on topical academic, as well as other issues at the school. Parents have found this a useful channel of exchange with the School and other parents.

ISPTA also runs the uniform and book shops. Its administrator has her office in the uniform shop. The shop makes a valuable contribution to the effective running of the school.

ISPTA, independent of its official agenda, helps to facilitate sharing of experience and camaraderie by promoting social get togethers for parents of each Year, organized by its own representative.
