Thank you for your interest in applying for a place at Island School. The English Schools Foundation comprises 9 primary schools (5-11 years), 5 secondary schools (11-18 years), two private independent schools (5-18 years), two kindergartens (3-5 years) and one school for pupils with severe learning difficulties. Island School is an international, co-educational, comprehensive school, providing secondary education (age 11 to 18) for children of all nations who can benefit from an education through the medium of English. The school has over 30 nationalities and we benefit greatly from the richness of our culture and its ethnic diversity.
To be considered for a place please apply online through the centralized Online Application System where you can find on the ESF website ESF's online admission and send back all supporting documents to the right school zone. Applications can only be considered if the Director of Immigration has accepted the family’s residential status and granted the relevant visas.
As English is the language of instruction at Island School potential students need to have a certain level of proficiency in English if they are to benefit from our curriculum. Generally, we conduct the interview after the prospective student has completed their English language assessment. Would you please also note that the following documents are necessary to support the application for your child and must be enclosed with the application form. These are:
1. student’s personal passport with permit to stay or HKID copy;
2. parents’ passports with permit to stay or HKID copy;
3. student’s school reports for the past two years;
4. a reference letter from the student's current school;
5. one recent photograph of the student;
6. proof of address.
Once we have received your completed application form we will contact you to arrange for an interview and assessment for your child when and if school places are available. We will then give you more information about the interview/assessment procedures.
Fees are charged at all ESF schools and must be paid in full and in advance by the parent or his employer. If your child is offered a place in any ESF school, a deposit of HK$16,000 advance school fees (non-refundable and non-transferrable) + HK$25,000 refundable Capital Levy are required to secure that place .
Once you have submitted your application, it will stay on the waiting list for the school and we will contact you when school places become available or you can contact the school when your arrival date is imminent. An application fee HK$150 will be charged. Only applications that are submitted through the Online Application System will be considered. If you experience any technical problem, please contact -
