Position: Network Technician
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily operation of computer networks including hardware/software support
- Configure and maintain of IT systems and related components
- Analyzes and troubleshoots the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems
- Monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges
- Installs, supports and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances
- Establishes and maintains user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security
- Performs daily server tape backups
- Researches, analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network problems
- Researches and evaluates new technologies related to computer networking
- Assists in planning, coordinating and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support
- Recommends and specifies the purchase of related products and services
- Keeps current regarding new hardware/software products for system enhancements
Requirements:
- Diploma holder in Computer Studies related discipline, preferably with 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience.
- Knowledge and experience in the following areas: TCP/IP, WiFi, HTTP, DNS, network switching and routing technologies, network and system security, virtualization, Linux system administration.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server/Mac & Client platforms
- Proficiency in administering Linux/Windows environments
- Good experience in PC Hardware and Software installation, maintenance and upgrade
- Able to work independently or with others as a team and under pressure.
- Working outside normal office hours may be required occasionally.
